Question Of The Week

Hey yall!  So today is my last day of work until after Easter. Woot Woot!

I'm taking a few days off to hang with the girls and will probably go to some museums downtown and check out the Cherry Blossoms.

The past few months have been kinda crazy.

Do yall remember back in Jan my neighbors house caught fire and they lost EVERYTHING.

That made me think hard about this weeks question:

If your home were to be totally destroyed by fire but you could save just one thing, what would it be?

Now I don't think your kids or pets count but an actual object.

I thought hard about this one and I would just grab Lael's baby book.  I think everything else could go.  We could rebuy those things but her baby book has so many things that cannot be replaced I would be devastated to lose it.

What about you?  Don't just read the question either.  Give me an answer people!

Also, I am going to start my own Project 365 where I take pictures everyday.  Anyone done that before?

What's the best way for me to do it? Start a Flick account and add it to my blog? Help.

  1. I would definitely save either my purse or my computer. Just because they both have so much information in/on them!

  2. I'm with you - as long as the kids are the dog are out, I'm good. If there were time, I'd grab my daughter's favorite doll just so she had something that was hers, in case everything else was destroyed.

  3. My computer-- it has a ton of family pictures/memories held in it. And in a moment of sadness, resulting from a fire/natural disaster, those memories could make all of us smile. :)

Thanks for posts that make us think. :)

  5. Having gone through a fire (fortunately we lost nothing other than a few replaceable items to smoke damage) I can say from experience that when that alarm goes off the only thing you will think about getting is yourself and your kids/pets out of that building; we did it in less than three minutes. Then you will watch those flames and think about how close you were to losing the most important things in the world and hug your baby(s) a little tighter as you watch the firemen go to work.

Before the fire I always thought I'd grab my camera, or the laptop or this or that. If you are worried about losing something like a babybook, keep it in a fireproof safe or make copy to keep elsewhere.

  6. This question haunts me...seriously. My scrapbooks take up an entire cabinet. I'd probably grab my external hard drive with all my pictures.

  8. Since I don't print photos or anything I write, I'd have to take my computer. Wait...are you SURE my kids and dog are safe? 'Cause it would be really messed up if this was a trick question...

  9. I too have been through a house fire...I was around 5. Then the only thing I wanted was my Ms. Piggy doll. Now, if the kids, hubby, myself and our dog makes it out that would be all I need...then we'd be headed to your house to live :)! Love you!!!

  11. All of my photos are on my laptop...so the Pink Vaio will definitely be saved! It was a hard choice between that and the iPhone, until I realized I sleep with it in my hands. Duh.

    Hugs and Mocha,
    Stesha

  12. Yikes, I feel so guilty picking something, but I'd definitely go with my computer. All our pics and EVERYTHING is on it. How sad is that?
